AFI Loses its way

Today, I just received news from friends that the American Film Institute has now shut down its Preservation Office in Washington D.C. Strange move in the regards that part of the mandate of the AFI is to Coordinate the Preservation of Americas great film heritage.

For many years if it were not for devoted staff at AFI in D.C many of the Moving Images that are now located in Archives would never have gotten there without the efforts of this staff.

AFI can tout itself all it wants with it dreadful Film and Television Popularity lists, but the proof as they say is in the pudding, it has been years since the management of AFI has made any effort to be a leader in the area of Film Preservation
